Digital Workplace Skills: Designing the Integrated Learning of Accounting and Microsoft Excel

The ubiquitous use of Microsoft Excel among accountants has resulted in calls for students to become capable its enhance their success when entering the accountancy profession. objective this paper is investigate if, and how, an integrated learning approach can be designed develop accounting students’ skills as part experience within first-year financial modules. study deployed a design-based research (DBR) methodology, emerging education. involved 68 undergraduates participatory design blended intervention across three iterations, including Excel. results demonstrate that perceived skill levels participants improved result intervention, coupled with expression high confidence software. valued authentic obtained felt it would benefit them future employment. findings provide guidance educators wishing augment understanding digital workplace competency.
